I am traveling to Germany in April and would like to See where my family has come from. My mother Anna Marie Ibs she was born in the United States but was raised in Germany in Eddelak. She was confirmed in the Evangelisch - Lutherische Kirchengemeinde in Eddelak. Her father was Walter Ibs(born 11-6-1903 Behmhusen Germany) his father was Karl Friedrich Ibs (born 4-26-1871) and mother was Katharina Ruter. Karl's father was Johann Jacob Ibs and his father was Vitter Ibs. Vitter was from Dingen Germany. Johann Ibs wife was Anna Margaretha Schlomer her father was Claus Schlomer and mother was Christine margaretha VonOsten. Vitter Ibs wife was Ann Deters.

My Mothers mom was Bertha Helene Wilhelmine Hansen. Her father was Ferdinand (August)Hansen and his wife was Helene Mathilda Holler.

After I visit Eddelak I will travel to Elpersbuttel where my Fathers Father was born. Johanne C. Ploog he was confirmed in Meldorf.

Dear Diane

I hope you will have a good time here in Eddelak. The easiest way to visit the church is to come to the service on Sundays 9:30. There is also the chance to ask for a visit in the church buero in Bahnhofstreet No 2 in the morning time. Sometimes there is organ music on Friday afternoon at 4pm, too.
If you want to read churchbooks you have to go to Meldorf to the library of the churchbooks at the "Rentamt"
